Aashna Pandey’s Inspiring Vision Therapy Journey at Visual Eyez -+ Aashna Pandey, a 15-year-old NRI from Zambia (Africa), visited Visual Eyez Noida Center seeking help for her vision challenges. She was diagnosed with Jerky Nystagmus and Amblyopia 10 years ago. Despite consulting multiple leading eye hospitals in her hometown Lucknow, as well as major centers like AIIMS Delhi, she was repeatedly told that “Nothing Can Be Done.” This made her confidence low despite of being bright student, she wasn’t confident about her future. When she first visited us, Aashna experienced significant visual difficulties: Unstable fixation due to Nystagmus, making it hard to focus on objects. Frequent eye fatigue and difficulty shifting gaze between objects. Reduced depth perception, making tasks like pouring water, climbing stairs, or catching objects difficult. Trouble tracking moving objects, affecting activities like reading, writing, and sports. Severe reading difficulties, as her comfortable reading distance was limited to just 10 cm. Even then, it wasn’t smooth. Poor blackboard visibility, even while sitting in the front row, leading to academic struggles and frequent loss of important notes. Frequent head tilting and compensatory face turns to find a clearer line of sight. Due to this she had low confidence in social and academic settings due to her visual limitations. Her initial vision assessment showed: Right Eye (RE): 2/60 (unaided) → 6/60p (with glasses) Left Eye (LE): 6/60p (unaided) → 6/36p (with glasses) No stereopsis (depth perception). After just 45 days of Vision Therapy, Aashna’s progress has been remarkable: Right Eye (RE): 6/15 Left Eye (LE): 6/12 Binocular Vision: 6/6p Stereopsis improved to 100 sec of Arc This transformation is a testament to the power of Vision Therapy and the potential for improvement even when hope seems lost. She has been advised for home maintenance therapy and visit for follow-up after 6 months. We wish Aashna a bright future and success in all her endeavors!
