Insights into Pediatric & Low Vision Eye Care | Live Global Webinar 👁️🌍
It was a privilege to be part of this fantastic global webinar, engaging with colleagues across regions on Pediatric and Low Vision Eye Care.
In a time when much of the conversation in low vision care still revolves around visual acuity alone, my perspective focused on a broader and more meaningful clinical question:
“Beyond #VisualAcuity: A #Functional Approach to #Pediatric and #LowVisionRehabilitation and #Innovations.”
#Vision is not merely about seeing letters on a chart. It is about function, participation, independence, learning, mobility, and quality of life especially for children and individuals with low vision.
In this session I shared my insights on:
🔹 Why visual acuity is an incomplete measure of real-world visual performance
🔹 The shift towards functional vision assessment in pediatric and low vision care
🔹 How advanced, integrative rehabilitation approaches are improving outcomes
🔹 Innovations that support better educational, social, and daily-living participation
The future of low vision care lies in function-driven, patient-centred rehabilitation, supported by evidence, technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
My sincere thanks to the Pakistan Optometric Society, the distinguished co-speakers, moderators, collaborators, and media partners for creating such a meaningful platform for global knowledge exchange.
Conversations like these are essential as we redefine how success in low vision rehabilitation is measured—not by acuity alone, but by how well our patients live, learn, and engage with the world.
Honoured to be invited as a Faculty at AIOS प्रYogshala – Low Vision Aid Program.
It’s wonderful to see AIOS Yogshala shining a spotlight on Low Vision as a specialty. It’s long overdue for the recognition and importance it deserves, and it’s inspiring to see such dedicated efforts to improve the quality of life for those with visual impairments.
Had a great Sunday spent at the AIOS office, where I conducted a hands-on workshop and interacted closely with both junior and senior residents, along with the wonderful faculties of Dr.Sumit Grover, Dr.Meenakshi, and Sahiba. The sessions focused on Low Vision Rehabilitation, practical application of low vision aids, and innovations in vision rehabilitation, emphasizing how this specialty can help patients lead a more independent and meaningful life despite visual challenges.
The enthusiastic participation and rich discussions around neuro-optometric rehabilitation, emerging technologies, and innovative clinical approaches reinforced the importance of structured rehabilitation in improving the quality of life of people with visual impairment.
A special note of gratitude to the Guru Nanak Eye Hospital team for their generous support in donating low vision devices to patients, making a real difference in improving functional vision and quality of life.
Grateful to the AIOS leadership, organizers, and participants for the warm invitation and enriching academic exchange. Looking forward to continued collaboration in advancing patient-centric, innovation-driven low vision care.
Honored to Lead a Workshop on Syntonics at SPOSI–IFOCUS 2026 👁️✨
I had the privilege of conducting a workshop at #SPOSI-#IFOCUS last week on SYNTONICS (Optometric Photo Light Therapy), organized by the #Strabismus and #Pediatric #Ophthalmology Society of India, in collaboration with the Rohtak Ophthalmological Society and Haryana Ophthalmological Society.
With over 28 years of experience in eye care, 12+ years in Vision Therapy, and 7+ years in Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation, I added Syntonics (Photo Light Therapy) to my practice in 2019, after advanced training at the College of Syntonic Optometry USA, making Visual Eyez one of the very few Indian centers offering this advanced therapy.
This is a science that has existed for decades, is applied in treatments ranging from pain relief to neonatal jaundice by dermatologis and many more. In Eye Care it is used by delivering light through the eyes, it has remarkable effects on ocular and overall systemic health.
It was heartening to see ophthalmologists, postgraduates, and optometrists engaging actively and showing keen interest in this knowledge.
I am deeply grateful to the organizers for this opportunity. The future of eye care lies in innovation, collaboration, and multidisciplinary approaches, and I am proud to contribute my expertise to advancing patient outcomes.

World Sight Day 2025
October has truly been a month of milestones, balance, and purpose.
While continuing my clinical practice at #VisualEyezIndia, I have been equally engaged with my professional commitments across Indian Optometric Association IOA-, Asia Pacific Council of Optometry and WCO, each platform driving the mission of strengthening global optometry.
October started with a great honour to be announced as the first Indian to be elected President-Elect of the World Council of Optometry (WCO), a proud moment for Indian optometry and a step forward in representing our collective vision on the world stage.
Also successfully hosted Optopreneur 2025 on 4th October, in collaboration with India Vision Institute, the first-of-its-kind event where knowledge met innovation and entrepreneurship. The energy, ideas, and enthusiasm from practitioners and students alike truly reflected the promising future of optometry in India.
Our World Sight Day 2025 celebration was another defining moment organised by Visual Eyez India in association with the Noida Authority and Noida Police, and dedicated to my late father through the Shri Ram Chandra Prasad Sewa Trust.
What began as a modest initiative grew into a large-scale movement perfectly aligned with the global theme by WCO, WHO, and IAPB “#LoveYourEyesAtWork and in Life.”
Together with #rcpsewatrust SRCP Sewa Trust, we conducted a mega vision care drive across 15 booths in 8 locations throughout Noida and Greater Noida, screening over 1,200 individuals in a single day and dispensing 800 presbyopia corrections. From school children to police personnel, our goal was to promote early detection, raise awareness, and strengthen preventive eye care — echoing the global call to make eye health accessible to all by 2030.
The initiative was inaugurated by Dr. Lokesh M (IAS), CEO of Noida Authority and DIG Ajay Kumar of Noida Police at Police Lines, Surajpur, a shining example of how governance and healthcare can collaborate for the greater good.
A heartfelt thanks to Subodh Kumar Dixit , President Indian Optometric Association for the trust and support and to Rk Manik and the Department of Optometry, Swami Vivekanand Subharti University (SVSU), Meerut, for their support and participation, and to all volunteers, friends, and well-wishers whose dedication made this possible.
As I balance my clinical practice, academic work, and leadership responsibilities, I’m reminded that when passion drives purpose, every effort counts. Here’s to empowering more Optometrists as Optopreneurs, advancing vision care, and making an impact, one eye at a time. 👁✨
Amidst these professional milestones, the Diwali festival was a beautiful reminder to pause, reflect, and cherish time with my family, because true balance means nurturing both the work that drives you and the people who inspire you. 🪔
“If the willingness to serve is there, no one can stop you, because true strength lies in purpose, not position.”
